The other
side of me.

I have strong opinions and a hard time leaving a problem alone. I’m also happy to close the laptop, get outside, or spend an evening at home with the people I love.

I take my work seriously. I also laugh at stupid things, get distracted by another idea, and spend more time talking about my cat than anyone probably needs to hear. I can have a very definite opinion about how something should work and no idea what I want to watch on television.

There’s a quieter part of my life that doesn’t make much of a headline. Time with the people I love. A run with no particular point to prove. An afternoon outside. Something interesting enough to mess around with, even if it never becomes useful to anyone else.

I like figuring things out. That curiosity can turn into software or a piece of writing, but it doesn’t always need to go anywhere. I can follow a question just because I want to know the answer.

I’ve written plenty about standards and rebuilding. Those things matter to me. So does having a life I actually get to enjoy. I don’t want every conversation to become a lesson or every good day to need an explanation.

Some things belong on a page. Some things are better left as a conversation, a laugh, or a memory shared with the people who were there.
